[attr="class","limitless"]character - other King Rhaegar Targaryen rarely if ever visited the Wall however, he had needed to see the Lord Commander about rumors that he had heard and he had taken his son, Prince Aerion Targaryen with him. He knew that it would be beneficial to the young prince so he could learn and also visit with his uncle, Benjen who had taken the black a very long time ago. Rhaegar loved his children all the same, however they all had different paths they all would pave in the world of Westeros. Aegon would succeed him into being King and Aerion would be there by his brother's side as he had always dreamt of. Rhaegar had always envisioned all of his children helping each other rather than fight with each other than like his descendants had done so before them. He wanted them to stay together and not fight for power or wealth. Rhaegar might have restored what the late King, his father had broken but still he could feel the cracks that had been there once before.
He walked over to his son, "I know you once thought of joining the Night's Watch, Aerion." He told his son, there was very little that he never knew. He knew everything about everyone, it was the duty of the King to know everything about everything including his daughter, Visenya riding and avoiding guards whenever she felt like it. Had Aerion been someone else, he would have allowed him to follow his dreams but Aerion was not just anyone. He was the Prince of the Six Kingdoms, those who bent the knee to him also bent the knee to his son like they should. Aerion and his uncle, Benjen spoke he had to admit he liked the ranger each time he saw him however small that is. Benjen rarely visited the Red Keep however he had been there for the wedding and the coronation of his sister, the Queen of the six kingdoms.
"Are you enjoying your time at the wall as I' am? I came here with you because I want you to know what we face other than our enemies. Not just the Lannister's but those beyond." He told his son. He needed Aerion to understand how important it was for him to be on battle mode at every turn. If he had wanted Aegon with them, he would have taken them both but he needed Aerion as Aegon had been sent to the North to send a message to their new King, Robb. He needed Aegon to learn how to rule and how to be willing to learn before his time was up. The iron throne poked at him, his every turn made it uneasy to sit down on the throne but then again he was not meant to sit happily. Heavy is the crown he thought. "I never did ask you, child. How is your betrothment with my sister going?" He asked in glee. He knew he had made the right choice in choosing Dany for his son. Dany would have made a good queen but she made a better princess at the moment and his third in command. He knew that his kingdoms were safe with her at the helm.

Jon closed his eyes as the cold snow filled air pricked his face, he had been born South where it was almost always warm and warmer which if he was honest didn’t always help the smell in Flea Bottom. One of the reasons he had never really liked being in King’s Landing. He preferred the smell of the ocean on Dragonstone or the clear cool air in the North. He really was of both fire and ice; he couldn't pick the one over the other; they were both equally part of him. His bonded were proof of that. A Dragon for the blood of the dragon and a direwolf, a creature from beyond the wall. The first time he had visited the wall he felt a call from beyond the wall, a call and a feeling of foreboding like something was watching him from those frozen wastelands and not just Wildlings. Something that even made his Dragon uneasy, something that he had never seen before. That didn’t stop him from wanting to go beyond the wall just to find out what it was. How was he supposed to keep his brother safe if he didn’t know what was out there? He had known that it would be his job to protect his brother and to always be there for him. He loved his brother and that love trumped any fear that was stirred from beyond the wall.
His father’s voice pulled him from his thoughts and he turned to face him. There really was no hiding anything from his father. Though he had only mentioned his intentions of joining the wall to his mother he knew that she didn’t tend to hold secrets from her husband. ”Yes, but mother forbade it.” A small part had thought of taking off and doing it anyway, if he took the vow there would be nothing his parents could do to stop him. Jon hadn’t done so however he knew his duty was as a Prince of the Realm not a Ranger beyond the wall like his Uncle. His Uncle though had been a third son of the Lord of the North long before the North became its own Kingdom. Taking the Black had been an honor for him, taking the black for Jon would just be a way of running from the pressures of being a Prince.
“Yes, there is something about this place” his eyes fell on the wall, the wall that was so tall that Jon wondered how it had been built all those years ago. It amazed him and scared him at the same time. Why was it so big? Could it be just to keep out small wildinglings? For sure just to keep them out there could have been something smaller. Everytime he came to the wall it only caused more questions to stir in his mind. His fathers words only confirmed that what Jon felt wasn’t just in his head. There had to be something else going on. His father's words caused the corners of his lips to twitch downward for only a second. Was he referring to the wildlings? He knew they were a threat but were they really a threat to the whole Kingdom. If any got across the wall they were really only a threat to the nearby villages until the Brother of the Night’s watch hunted them down which they always did. ”Surely the wildlings aren’t that large of a threat Father.” deep down Jon felt that his father felt the same feelings he felt about what was lurking out there but he wasn’t sure if he was ready to speak those feelings out loud. What if he was wrong?
When his father asked about his betrothed a soft smile formed on his lips ”I greatly admire her father.” he paused as he thought about what she had done at Slaver’s Bay ”What she did at the Bay of Dragons…I truly do admire her” Jon had never agreed with slavery and it being legal across the Sea made him feel a certain way but Dany had done something about it. She had broken their chains and that had truly been something he had admired so much. While he wasn’t in love with her he did love her and knew they would have a happy marriage as he did enjoy spending time with her.

[attr="class","limitless"]character - other King Rhaegar chuckled as he heard his son, the problem hadn't been the wildlings, no, it had been something else entirely and he was concerned that it would spread and become a bigger thread. His family's dragons were a force to be reckoned with however he needed soldiers and he knew that the soldiers of the Night's Watch had what he needed. He needed them now more than ever, to keep them safe from what he feared was out there and circling them like vultures. Rhaegar knew that he would have to fight again should it come to that and he was ready, he was ready to do whatever it was to protect what he loved, his family and his people. Sending Aegon to the Kingdom of the North hadn't been in vein he knew that, his son was someone whom he trusted as the next King. He reminded himself he needed to get him a betrothed before anything else happened. He had looked at the Velaryon ladies as a perfect match because of their blood that was Targaryen.
"Your mother did what was right. I would have forbidden it as well. You are a prince, Aerion and nothing else. Your duty is to protect the realm and your brothers and sisters. You are duty bound to be the best prince there ever was and to always be on guard." He said to his son, he had spoken with Visenya about her troubles but they still kept him worried because Visenya was his youngest girl. Youngest and yet still unbetrothed and that worried him deeply. He looked at his son with a smile. The coldness of the Wall hitting hard as he had been born in the South, the warmth that the South offered was nothing compared to the winter that was in the Wall.
To Rhaegar, the Wildlings were never his problem but what laid beyond was and he knew that it was coming for them. Rhaegar was a very strong warrior and would never yield if he could help it. Many had thought that he had already lost when he had fought with Robert Baratheon but he had come out victorious and beheaded the man who had spread lies and gossip about him. He had been bred by fire and blood and was taught to never give up ever. "I'm not talking about the wildlings, Aerion. There lurks something beyond the wildlings and it is coming for us. we must be ready at all times. Our dragons will be of help but we will need foot soldiers as well." He said to his son telling him of his worries and how much it bothered him that he couldn't protect them as he wanted.
Upon talking about his sister, he couldn't help but smile at that. Dany had done the impossible and freed the slaves of Slaver's Bay and renamed it Bay of Dragons after their house. Dany kept a close eye on them lest they return to their old ways. She had shown them her fury by burning those that had refused to release the slaves. Dany had done so for their house, House Targaryen. "Dany will make you a good husband and father. Viserys is good being in Dragonstone, he tends to be a problem when he visits." He laughed as Viserys always demanded things when he was around. Rhaegar had betrothed him to Lady Margaery Tyrell for a reason. He needed to be tied down and being with her did exactly that. Rhaegar trusted the Tyrell Lady to keep him close by and not causing trouble for him and his house.

The young Prince nodded slightly when his father said his mother had been right. He knew she had been right but he couldn’t help but feel disappointed in that moment. As a Prince the second Prince he was important. He had a duty to protect his siblings and realm, to be the strength his brother would need to lean on. He had watched his father really only ever have their mother to lean on and he wanted to support his brother wherever and whenever he could. It was also his job if the Gods forbid something happened to his elder brother to take up the mantle as King. He was the next in line after his brother since he was still unwed without an heir to his own. The thought made Jon shudder because he had never wanted to be King and for him to be King that would mean his brother lost his life. The one thing Jon would do everything to prevent. The Rebellion and the death of his Uncle showed him though that no one was truly safe, not even those of Royal blood. Safety was never guaranteed in the game of thrones after all. ”I know” he glanced back towards the wall as if he could see the snowy wasteland beyond ”I feel like I am called by some kind of force out there” he wasn’t sure why it slipped out. He had never admitted to that pull, the pull that he needed to do something about what lurked in the shadows and ice. Part of him felt like he had been born for that very reason the ice in his veins along with the fire. As if the gods had pushed his parents together the Icy She wolf and the fire blooded Dragon. He shook his head as he turned back to his father as if embarrassed for letting those words actually slip out. He didn’t want his father to think him mad. Perhaps the feeling he felt deep in his chest was that of discovering lands so full of questions.
His eyes narrowed as his father spoke once more about a threat other than the Wildlings…perhaps he wasn’t mad…if even his father felt it. ”What is it father? What is out there? Why such a large wall?” the questions just poured out one after another and he quickly pushed his lips tightly together so as to not overwhelm his father with so many at once. Questions he was sure his father didn’t have all the answers for.
His eyes fell to the ground when his father brought up being a good husband and father. He hadn’t really put much thought into being a father. He wasn’t sure if he could live up to his own father. Would they be expected to have children right away? He hadn’t actually thought about it. He had known he would marry Dany almost his whole life and that moment was fast approaching he knew. The date had not been set but surely it would sometime after his Uncle’s marriage to the Tyrell girl. “She truly is Blood of the Dragon” sometimes Jon didn’t know why his father decided for the two of them to marry and not she and Aegon. Dany would have made a miraculous Queen one day.

[attr="class","limitless"]character - other Rhaegar often thought that his son, Aerion could handle just about anything thrown at him. He had shown him exactly that and had become a good prince because of that, he had become someone whom he knew that should anything happen he would always be by his family's side no matter what. Rhaegar had yet to tell his family members of news of Stannis Baratheon and his constant attempts to the crown that was never rightfully his even in the first place. The crown always belonged to the House of the Dragons and never to the Baratheons, true that one of them had married into the Baratheon line but that never gave them reason to take what was never theirs in the first place. He hoped that his family would not burn the Stormlands without having heard him and his plans for Stannis and all of those who were going against the crown and their loyalties. He had placed the perfect plan in motion, even legitimizing the bastard Gendry had been part of his plan although he had hoped that the young lad would have been on their side instead.
He listened to his son closely, he knew that calling he spoke of and it had taken a while for him to mute the call and instead focus on the crown and the royalty that laid ahead of him. He couldn't bare to lose his son, he knew that his Queen would be devastated should Aerion decide to leave. They needed him by their side especially now more than ever. "I'm no stranger to what you speak of, Aerion. I, too have heard the call and as it grew stronger so did my father's madness. You are meant to do great things and you will in time." He replied knowing this for a fact, even after he was long gone from the world, he knew his son would do good things, things that everyone would speak of and admire. He was the son of the last dragon and the wild she-wolf, he was destined for more than what was in front of him. He just knew that it was not in the wall nor pledging himself to the Night's Watch. His son was a prince and a prince he will become. He had an idea in his mind to send him to Dorne, to speak to Prince Doran about the plans of dealing with Stannis and his followers. "Aerion, you are my son. Can you do something for your father? I know you would be right for this." He asked looking at the men of the Night's Watch train and often glance at him and his son. Not often did they receive a royal visit.
Rhaegar looked saddened by the question but he was never one to lie to his children, not when he could help it. "The Night King is out there, my son. His army of the dead and the King himself. They are coming for us so we must ready ourselves and go for them instead." He said honestly, he had seen the Night King in the flesh and he had been someone who had no fear nor emotions. He was ready to kill each and every single last one of them including by turning their beloved dragons against them. Rhaegar couldn't have that. He refused that. He had sent Aegon to the North because he needed Robb to know and be ready for his visit and make plans for their kingdoms. "Wildlings are not my problem, my son. It is the dead that refuse to stay dead that are." He sighed.
He had always known that Dany, his only sister would be married to his son, Aerion from the moment he was born. They complimented each other well and he knew that Dany would give his son beautiful children and maybe one day, should Aegon fail. Aerion would be able to lead and Dany would be his Queen. "She is. She is much stronger than Viserys in many ways and she will make you a good wife. I only hope that you make each other happy. No bastards, Aerion." He warned his son. Rhaegar had never, had bastards in all of his life and he expected the very same thing from his sons. open your eyes
